The name Doyang is derived from the river Doyang which flows down the Valley. It is the longest and the largest river in the Lotha- Naga area. It runs through the foot hills of the Japhu Mountain, the highest mountain range in Nagaland, across the western part of Lotha area, down the plains (Asom). Doyang is about 28 kms. away from Wokha, the district head quarters of Lothas.
