VKV (NEEPCO) Doyang, hosted a VKSPV common programme first time in ten years. Investigatory Science Project was a great triumph in the sense, this programme saw the coming together of different VKVs of Assam, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh and also the senior most karyakartas of Vivekananda Kendra in VKV(NEEPCO) Doyang. Total no. of participants in the Investigatory Science Project was 80. Though, the infrastructure of the school, is not enough for organizing a big programme, yet, with the minimum facilities available, the school could offer hospitality to the participating teams to their contentment. The participants with their escorting teachers reached Doyang on 17th November. The final presentation on the investigatory projects prepared by individual schools was on 19th November. The judges, Sri Debendra Nath Bhattacharjee, Ex. HOD Botany & Vice Principal, Tinsukia College, Dr. Amarendra Nath Dutta, presently, a Lecturer, Reliance College, Golaghat and Sri Senkathung Patton, Manager, Gen & Syd. Division, DHEP, NEEPCO, Doyang have had of the general opinion that researches done by the participants on their respective projects were highly commendable. In their three day stay, the students also got the opportunity to interact with the judges in the evening sessions. Also, there was an exhibition on ‘Indigenous Culture’ where they could see the exhibits of traditional costume of the Naga, the weapons they used in hunting, the crockery that is used even today. The concluding programme on 20th November was attended by Dr. Zeive Heise, Principal Scientific Officer, Science and Technology Council, Nagaland. In his rousing speech Dr. Heise inspired the students to continue their sincere effort in the field of science. He also briefed the students of the avenues open to them in their pursuit of higher studies in the field of science. In a separate session after the concluding programme on 20 Nov. Sri Promod Konwar, DGM DHEP NEEPCO, explained the students about the mechanism of Power House in a Hydro Electric Project with assistance of Sri Th. Khelen Singh, Manager System, DHEP NEEPCO. The participants were highly motivated after the interaction with the resourceful persons, Sri Promod Konwar, DGM, NEEPCO and Sri Th. Khelen Singh, Manager System. The students’ inquisitive mind and their various other questions were satisfied with their visit to the Power House, dam and spill-way on the same day. This three day celebration in the school was also successful, because, for the first time ever the local people of Doyang could witness a school programme which they would always like to cherish in their minds.

The concluding function on 20th November was attended by Dr. Zeive Heise, Principal Scientific Officer Science and Technology Council, Nagaland. Dr. Heise appreciated the effort of the students in preparing the projects and guided them for their future endeavour in the field of science. The participating schools with their escorting teachers also visited the 75 megawatt Power House.
